In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to state agencies, local governments, school districts, and higher education institutions navigating their cloud adoption and AI transformation journey helping them translate their missions into measurable outcomes through modern cloud solutions.
AWS is seeking a Customer Solutions Manager (
CSM) to join our State & Local Government and Education (
SLG/
EDU) team and help public sector customers realize sustained business value by accelerating their cloud adoption, migration, and modernization journeys. You will work backwards from customer strategic objectives, help design the customer cloud journey, execute a frictionless migration and modernization experience, and ensure our state & local government and education customers capture the full potential of the
AWS cloud including AI and modern application development.
CSMs are technologists with a strategic business mindset who use their technical acumen, program management, organizational change management, and communication skills to influence multidisciplinary teams. You will work across sales, solution architecture, support, product, professional services, and partners to optimize customer outcomes for government agencies, K-12 school districts, and higher education institutions.
Key job responsibilities
Execute & Deliver: Deliver customer engagements to drive measurable outcomes for customers while owning work streams that require collaboration across Sales, Support, Solutions Architecture, and Professional Services
Drive Adoption: Help develop and execute cloud adoption roadmaps aligned with customer milestones, translating customer goals into concrete actions and tracking progress against success criteria
Accelerate Value: Identify opportunities for migrations, data & analytics, generative AI, and modernization that improve government and education outcomes
Enable & Educate: Support the design and delivery of enablement programs, AI readiness assessments, and executive briefing sessions that prepare public sector customers for cloud transformation and responsible AI adoption
Advocate & Communicate: Serve as the customer's voice within
AWS, clearly articulating customer needs, blockers, and feedback to internal teams including leadership, product, and engineering
Learn & Contribute: Develop knowledge of
AWS services, public sector compliance requirements and
CSM best practices while contributing to scalable mechanisms and playbooks that benefit the broader
SLG/
EDU team
A day in the life
As a
CSM on the
AWS State & Local Government and Education team, you'll drive business value for public sector customers by connecting their goals to
AWS capabilities. Your day may include joining strategy sessions with customer stakeholders, coordinating across Sales, Solutions Architecture, and specialist teams to remove blockers, and tracking progress against milestones. You'll contribute to enablement plans for cloud migrations and generative AI adoption, support executive briefings, and help coordinate
go-live events. You'll proactively surface customer challenges and contribute solutions that address the unique needs of government and education organizations.

- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field
- Experience in a customer-facing role, engaging with customer executives, technologists or partners to solve business problems with advanced technologies
- 2+ years of leading large-scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, realizing customer benefits, and successful program completion experience
- 2+ years of enterprise IT, either as a vendor, consultant or have prior experience working with or managing technical programs experience
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies
- PMP certification, or
SCRUM/
Agile, SAFe certification
- Knowledge of the software development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery or IT lifecycle
- Experience coordinating between project teams and customers to meet unique customer requirements

AWS or other cloud certification
- Experience in the public sector

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
