We are looking for an experienced, innovative Data Engineer to work in a large and complex data warehouse environment. You should be passionate about working with disparate datasets and love bringing data together to answer business questions. You should have deep expertise in creating and managing datasets and a proven ability to translate data into meaningful insights through collaboration with Analysts, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, SDEs, and business teams across the Amazon AIR organization. In this role, you will own end-to-end development of data engineering solutions to complex questions and play a critical role in strategic decision-making.

The right candidate will possess excellent technical ability in relational database management systems and database architecture, solid business and communication skills, and the ability to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, collaborate with external data vendors to onboard new datasets, and analyze data effectively.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement robust ETL/ELT processes using AWS big data technologies
- Create scalable data integration solutions that transform complex business requirements into actionable insights
- Develop and maintain high-performance data pipelines that support critical business intelligence needs
- Proactively identify and resolve data infrastructure challenges to enhance system reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making strategies
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of AIR's GenAI infrastructure and data foundations
- Design and implement data architectures that support generative AI applications and LLM workflows
- Leverage GenAI tools (e.g., Amazon Q, coding assistants) to accelerate development and testing

About the team
We are a passionate group of data professionals dedicated to transforming raw information into strategic insights. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to solving complex challenges that directly impact Amazon's global air transportation network. - 2+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
- Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)
- Familiarity with leveraging GenAI/LLM tools to improve development productivity - Experience as a data engineer or related specialty (e.g., software engineer, business intelligence engineer, data scientist) with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
- Experience with big data processing technology (e.g., Hadoop or ApacheSpark), data warehouse technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL, and reporting/analytic tools and environments
- Knowledge of basics of designing and implementing a data schema like normalization, relational model vs dimensional model
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
