Job Summary:
As a Senior Experience Designer, you'll shape how millions of users experience the Venmo app. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams —product, engineering, research, and marketing— to define possibilities, align around shared vision, and turn complex challenges into elegant solutions. You'll move through ambiguity with clear thinking and a user-first mindset. You'll advocate for best practices, influence stakeholders, champion design excellence, and elevate the craft to ensure every experience delivers measurable value.Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform product designs specialized in experience design knowledge and developed business expertise
- Lead projects and/or programs within the product function with moderate scope impacting function or sub-function
- Create customer experiences across digital and physical products within general parameters under broad supervision
- May act as a subject matter resource for entry level and developing colleagues
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
You will be part of the Venmo Commerce Experiences Design team, creating sophisticated experiences that resonate with our users. The Commerce team shapes all aspects of our merchant experiences, to consumer view of the merchant experiences and Growing our Commerce Pillar. We work adjacent to the Core and Consumer Financial Services, Design System, and the Ads team.
Expect an immersive, fast-paced environment, overseeing multiple projects, while flexing your skills as an effective communicator — especially when it comes to relaying creative concepts to our design teams and company stakeholders.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate clear objectives in enhancing user and customer experiences that deliver results and meet organizational goals.
- Influence decision-making at the senior leadership level.
- Design and deliver the most highly complex digital products and services using domain knowledge and extensive business expertise.
- Develop and deliver innovative strategies that benefit customers and product users.
- Lead major business projects which impact the Experience Design job family.
- Design, evaluate, and select process, product, and service improvements based on a thorough understanding of user and customer needs and industry trends.
- Highly self-sufficient, able to manage design responsibilities independently and balance iterative exploration with milestone-driven delivery.
- General awareness of front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML/CSS) and how they impact design implementation.
We Would Love to Consider You for This Role if You Have
- 3+ years of experience leading and shipping consumer mobile app experiences, with a strong track record of measurable impact. Must be able to execute a blend of UX and visual design, with a strong portfolio showcasing design excellence in delivering impactful business outcomes and a high bar for craft.
- AI-Native Mindset: You understand that AI is a new design material. A proven track record of roles at the intersection of Product Design and emerging technology, specifically in AI/ML-driven environments.
- Modern AI Toolstack: Proficiency in Figma combined with an obsession with AI-accelerated workflows (e.g., Cursor, v0, prompt engineering for UI generation, and automated documentation).
- Exceptional craft skills: including the ability to build realistic prototypes and work fluently with design systems, pattern libraries, repositories, and internal design tooling.
- Effectively operates within an iterative design team, managing product design responsibilities against defined milestones and plans with little day-to-day oversight.
- Customer-obsessed: with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights.
Other Qualifications - Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent experience in one of the following areas: Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors, or equivalent project/portfolio experience.
- Experience working at either an agency or from within a consumer-facing app.
- Extensive experience working with resources such as pattern libraries, repositories, and internal communication tools.
- Mastery of product design methodology and lifecycle across significant channels and platforms.
- Thorough knowledge of essential channels and platforms, with experience in mobile, dedicated, web, and native solution design.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
