The Amazon Employee Relations (ER) Strategy team supports Amazon’s Global workforce and we are seeking an ER Principal to join our team. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to i) assess data, workplaces, behaviors, external trends, and relationships to identify risks and gaps in the work environment; ii) develop and execute sustainable, scalable initiatives, mechanisms, and programs that affect long-lasting changes at all levels; iii) influence leaders to win alignment, support, and change agents; and iv) work cross-functionally to design and execute effective large-proactive strategies. The Principal will possess significant employee relations expertise, excellent judgment, and highly-developed analytical and communication skills.

Key job responsibilities
- Risk Detection and Mitigation: Apply employee relations expertise to successfully identify trends and challenges, predict and mitigate risk, and develop and execute solution-focused strategies and programs
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams including Public Policy, PR, Legal, OIC, and Investor Relations to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that align with organizational priorities.
- Project Management: Independently design, own, and lead successfully large-scale, network-wide projects that improve frontline employee and contractor experience
- Analyze and Interpret Data: Exercise strong analytical skills using data and anecdotes to develop persuasive narratives and recommendations; demonstrated ability to define and measure success of programs
- Deliver Innovative Solutions: Challenge current practices, industry status quo, and generate creative mechanisms that bring about large-scale solutions
- Communicate Effectively: Rapidly produce high-quality written communications that concisely analyze problems and move solutions from concept to execution
- Lead Through Others: Build constructive relationships with critical stakeholders and peers to share information, influence change, and leverage resources to deliver results
- Problem Solve: Work independently with minimal supervision, in ambiguous situations, and persevere over internal and external barriers to drive resolutions
- Work at Scale: Design solutions for a single person, station, or situation then translate, design, and launch sustainable mechanisms for entire networks

A day in the life
This role designs and scales enterprise-wide strategic communications frameworks that proactively educate employees and equip leaders to engage in authentic dialogue about workplace representation. Day to day, this person develops national communication campaigns end to end, partners with internal communications and legal teams, and coordinates with third-party vendors on content and research. A working knowledge of the NLRB, NLRA, and strategic communications is essential. The role requires strong cross-functional stakeholder management, often influencing without direct authority across Operations, HR, Legal, and senior leadership. Beyond core responsibilities, this person may support rapid-response situations requiring real-time coordination.

About the team
The ER Strategy team sits within Amazon's PXT Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) organization, supporting Amazon's global operations workforce of 1.5M+ employees and 800K+ contingent workers. This highly collaborative, strategic team drives future-focused employee relations through data-driven insights, proactive communications frameworks, and enterprise-wide programs that strengthen the employee-employer relationship. Guided by Think Big and Customer Obsession, with employees as our customers, the team partners cross-functionally with Operations leadership, Legal, Corporate Communications, Learning & Development, and HR Business Partners to deliver scalable solutions that build trust and enhance the employee experience. - Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law experience
- Experience producing executive-level written materials and presenting to executive audiences
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
- Experience creating and implementing large-scale organizational programs - Experience supporting workforces of 100+ hourly employees
- 7+ years of employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law experience
- 9+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility experience
- Experience managing competing priorities and using metrics to drive business decisions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
