Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of WW Medical Communications, the Associate Director of WW Cell Therapy Medical Communications will support the development and execution of integrated medical communications strategies across the cell therapy portfolio. S/he will be responsible for the support of the strategy as it relates to specific disease area, publication tactics, field medical educational material and external communication tools in alignment with the business needs within Medical Affairs and Clinical Development. This Associate Director will ensure the disclosure of the science of BMS products and research data to inform Healthcare Providers and Patients worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with WW disease leads establishing a clear, viable and compelling strategy for Cell Therapy Medical Communications, aligned with overall Cell Therapy Medical vision, strategy and objectives, and ensure delivery of timely and high-quality medical publications, scientific content, medical education and congress presentations worldwide.
Assist in creating integrated medical communications strategy and tactical plans for therapeutic areas in accordance with medical strategies
Partner with the cross functional teams to ensure timely journal submissions, publications, congress presentations, and delivery of internal and external scientific content.
Partner with medical teams on the development and review of medical communication materials, ensuring that the most-up-date, scientific information is included and in compliance with all global and local regulations and guidelines
Lead creation of field‑ready MSL materials (slide decks, digital tools)
Support the preparation and maintenance of rolling 18-month strategic publication plans from a local perspective in coordination with Global publications leads and local stakeholders.
Prepare for and follow up on actions from regular publication team meetings, aligning with goals set by the Medical Strategy Team.
Develop audience‑specific materials (HCPs, patients, advocacy, PCPs) including infographics, videos, and summaries
Ensure that all publication activities are of high scientific and medical quality and meet Good Publication Practices standards, align with SOPs and are documented appropriately.
Support communication with external authors for the development, review, and approval of publications, including the management of publication steering committees, if applicable.
Ensure adherence to ICMJE/GPP and company policies and procedures for publications, staying abreast of any new advances and guideline updates and partnering with GMPC on ensuring training and adherence.
Manage external agency partners to ensure quality and timelines of publications are met.
Collaborate to develop internal process improvements that will ensure BMS remains an ethical and credible leader in the practice of publications & scientific content; leading transformation efforts worldwide and for ensuring BMS publication & scientific content standards are aligned with Good Publication Practices and industry standards, and all BMS employees engaged in publication activities follow Good Publication Practices guidance with the highest degree of integrity, quality and transparency.
Demonstrates scientific/research expertise to support the establishment of strong working collaborations with both internal and external disease-area experts to ensure quality data analysis, interpretation, communication planning & data disclosure/dissemination.
Partners internally to identify, set timing and execute data dependencies and related disclosures of information in multiple communication channels, encouraging innovation to keep BMS medical communications in the forefront of advancing understanding of the science and maximize BMS product value for our customers
Identifies and drives opportunities to enhance processes, tools, operating procedures and outsourcing strategy to ensure consistent delivery and alignment of standards across therapeutic areas worldwide
Leading and managing a team to drive strategic medical communications planning and provide strategic oversight for communications strategy for both approved and late-stage BMS asset
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) with minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of Cell Therapy, Hematology and/or Oncology strongly preferred
Experience in medical communications publications preferred
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high level of trust and effectively collaborate with internal and external colleagues.
Proven ability to execute key projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
Strong ability to interpret, organize and communicate complex scientific data in a concise manner
Proven experience in executing strategic direction/vision for an organization
Experience in managing relationships with suppliers and service providers to deliver customer-focused services
Effective written and verbal communication, strong matrix leadership management, and enterprise mindset
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across a multifunctional organization and lead by influence
Demonstrated success driving optimal business results in a large complex corporate environment with multiple priorities and tight timelines
Ability to manage timelines and quality of work using strong leadership, organizational, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
Proven experience establishing strategic direction for teams, and proven ability to achieve set objectives; ability to take educated risk, rise above technical expertise; demonstrating judgement, wisdom and understanding of impact
Ability to analyze and interpret trial data
This position may require 20% travel to attend meetings, conferences, and events.

Compensation Overview:
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off
US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)
Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays
