The position is accountable for delivering measurable, cross‑regional business outcomes, including improved network reliability, reduced operational risk, increased efficiency, and accelerated insight through trusted data, intelligent automation and AI.
A critical aspect of this role is the oversight and governance of core network security platforms, including Firewalls, Load Balancers, SASE cloud environments, and enterprise network vulnerability and security patch management. The role provides senior technical governance and vendor management for Network Managed Service Providers and strategic suppliers, represents Global Network Services, and leads initiatives that strengthen network security and resilience.
The role drives continuous improvement across Network Operations through Problem Management, high‑availability engineering, and proactive resiliency practices. This includes identifying and mitigating single points of failure, configuration mismatches, systemic process gaps, and architectural risks. Improvement is achieved through the disciplined application of automation, AI, and data governance, supported by clear baseline metrics and outcome‑based performance measurements that demonstrably increase the availability, stability, and resiliency of the J&J global network.
Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise ownership and operational governance of critical network security platforms (firewalls, load balancers, SASE), including access controls, vulnerability remediation, and patch governance to reduce operational risk and improve security posture.
- Define and execute the global network operations automation, AI, and operational data governance roadmap; establish standards, metrics, and outcome-based performance measurements that improve reliability, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
- Lead cross-functional and cross-regional alignment with Information Security, Network Engineering/Deployment, and Business IT to translate operational needs into prioritized improvements, trusted data, and standardized operating practices using automation & AI.
- Provide senior technical governance and vendor/MSP management for managed network services and strategic suppliers; drive service performance, SLA adherence, and delivery of measurable business outcomes.
- Provide executive-level operational insight and governance through dashboards and reviews (risk, compliance, change, and policy adherence); recommend actions and investments based on trends, problem themes, and roadmap priorities.
Other Duties
- Establish and mature AI governance for Network Operations use cases (intake, risk review, guardrails, testing, and production release).
- Define and operationalize data governance practices for Network Operations (data definitions, lineage, quality controls, stewardship, and retention) to enable trusted reporting and AI/automation.
- Identify, prioritize, and incubate automation candidates (ticket reduction, change validation, patch/vulnerability workflows, and self-healing) and drive adoption through measurable outcomes.
- Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of ITIL-aligned operational standards, policies, and governance practices across Network Operations.
- Serve as a technical authority for operational tools and platforms, providing architecture/TAO input for network operations applications and supporting services.
- Own and mature knowledge management practices (runbooks, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures) and enable AI-assisted knowledge retrieval to accelerate resolution and scale operations.
- Oversee certificate and license lifecycle management for assigned security and network platforms to maintain compliance and operational continuity.
- Support contract governance and periodic service reviews by defining/validating requirements for Managed Service Providers and strategic suppliers, including automation and data KPI expectations.
- Coach and develop team capabilities to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies aligned to the automation, AI, and security roadmap.
- Promote a Credo-based, ethical, and inclusive work environment; role-model decision making and accountability across teams and partners.
