As a Biorepository Coordinator, you will have a meaningful role in advancing scientific research within the Clinical Sequencing Division. You will use your organizational and attention to detail for oncology specimen handling and management. Your work will contribute to the future of health by helping customers find cures for cancer to treat millions of patients globally.
Location
This is a fully onsite role based at our Carlsbad, CA office. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position.
A Day in the Life
- Manage physical sample inventory, ensure accurate handling and appropriate storage of the biospecimens such as FFPE blocks, slides, curls and plasma, in a BSL2 environment
- Use inventory management software applications for sample traceability
- Liaise with internal and external customers for sample procurements requests
- May conduct sample preparation activities such as aliquoting, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification
- May conduct histology activities such as microtomy, H&E staining and slides scanning
- Review biospecimen screening results
- May require carrying items weighing up to 20 lbs

- Follow best practices for sample handling and laboratory procedures
- Accurately follow protocols and recognize deviations
- Collaborate effectively to achieve pre-defined goals
- Stay current on data entry into multiple data base platforms
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience
- 1+ year of laboratory experience in academic or industry settings is preferred
- Experience working in regulated environments is preferred
- Industrial experience in sample management is preferred
- Prior histology experience such as microtomy and H&E staining preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong organizational, communication and teamwork abilities
- Emphasis on attention to details
- Strong theoretical understanding and hands-on laboratory skills
- Excellent documentation, writing, and presentation skills
- Sample preparation experience preferred
Other
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $58,600.00–$75,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
