DESCRIPTION
Lead a team of manufacturing professionals in a quality-focused environment. Promote operational excellence while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in the production of scientific instruments and solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives and cultivate a culture of innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals while developing team members' capabilities. Oversee daily operations including resource planning, schedule execution, and performance management to deliver products that enable our customers to make positive global impact.
What you will do:
- Demonstrate leadership skills and be a motivator of people
- Be dependable and show initiative to improve the overall production process and output
- Be responsible for day-to-day operations on the production floor and provide production status updates to the production supervisor regularly throughout the shift
- Create and maintain a clean, safe working environment for all employees
- Be detail and quality-oriented and demonstrate knowledge and experience in cGMPs
- Create releases of PRs for NDC, SMV, AFFY, and Export. Verify all coded information (Product Description, Lot Numbers, Exp Date, Product Number) on the Job Card, product, and Product label are correct
- Ensure all product and packaging conforms to Job Card and Thermo Fisher specifications
- Review and close work orders, issue components, and last of bulk in PRMS
- Fix discrepancies with Finance weekly or as needed
- Ensure the manufacturing/packaging area remains clean throughout the production run
- Supervise waste and materials quantities and communicate to the supervisor if additional materials are needed
- Report all paperwork issues, discrepancies, and material delays to the Production Supervisors for resolution
- Take a proactive approach to analyzing deficiencies and developing plans to correct them. Review existing processes, procedures such as SOPs and WIs, and metrics to identify improvement opportunities and efficiency gains regularly
- Support and participate in the company's efforts in Practical Process Improvement, LEAN, standard work, and the 5S program
- Serve as primary backup when the supervisor and/or manager are not present
- Enforce rules and regulations of the company and department
- Ensure both consistency of and compliance with company and departmental policies/procedures and performance standards such as CBA; ensure daily compliance with the departmental and quality standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required; Associate Degree preferred
- 1-3 years of leadership experience required
- Exposure to a production and/or chemical environment is a plus
- Advanced Degree with no prior experience, OR Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Manufacturing/Packaging Operations, Receiving, Pick/Pack, Ship, or equivalent is preferable
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO, and safety regulations
- GLP and GDP experience are a plus
- PC literate with a working knowledge of Databases, Access, Word, Outlook, and Excel. AS400 is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop team members
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with different levels of the organization
- Possess analytical skills for problem-solving and capable of multi-tasking in a rapid-paced environment
- Ability to quickly learn basic reconciling and inventory control practices and procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills are critical
- Must be capable of organizing time to perform the vital daily tasks efficiently
- Experience with quality systems and documentation control
- Multilingual skills beneficial for global collaboration
- Ability to handle complex technical and personnel issues independently
- Experience with production planning and resource management
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in clean room environment and wear required PPE
- Physical requirements include standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling equipment
- Must be able to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends as needed
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $30.00–$44.00.
