You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Controllership team supporting Google Cloud, ensuring accurate revenue recognition under US
GAAP. You will conduct comprehensive reviews of cloud contracts, navigating complex customer agreements and advising and influencing structures to optimize financial terms for the business. You will leverage your commercial and accounting expertise to develop solutions for new product launches and promotions, and drive process improvements through
cross-functional collaboration. Your role is integral to the end-to-end revenue reporting process, offering opportunities to work within a high-growth cross functional environment.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$187,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition by conducting reviews of cloud contracts, aligning with ASC606 standards.
- Navigate complex customer agreements through comprehensive evaluation and revenue assessment documentation.
- Influence structures during negotiations to optimize financial terms and support complex deals.
- Develop and maintain a depth and breadth of knowledge over Google products and create solutions to enable accounting for new product launches and business opportunities.
- Participate in cross-team initiatives towards process improvements and efficiencies by incorporating business partner and team feedback and industry best practices.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
- Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experienced revenue recognition professionals with review experience in the technology industry.
- Experience performing technical accounting assessments and operational execution in relation to complex revenue contracts including multiple performance obligations, multi-year contracts and relative selling price allocation.
- Ability to lead and drive complex initiatives cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment across a large, complex, global organization.
- Excellent communication skills; communicate effectively with executive management and cross-functional business partners.
