As an Engineering Program Manager for the App Store team, you will influence and lead the delivery of business critical features built for the App Store. We're looking for individuals with a proven track record of shipping complex customer facing projects under demanding timelines. To succeed, you take responsibility for project and encourage the team to do their best work. Good presentation skills are not enough; you tend to be exceptional at working with a variety of personalities, adapting your approach and message to keep the project on track and the entire project team moving as a single unit. The best Program Managers are inherently curious, digging deep to understand what customers need, how the technology of the store itself works and critical facets for any important decision. With your inquisitiveness as a strength, you will thrive as a Program Manager on the App Store because we are constantly doing things that have never been done before, and that, after all, is what makes this an amazing place to work.
Lead and influence the delivery of business-critical features built and executed on the App Store, working under tight timelines, and with limited details and directions
Drive and oversee all aspects of multiple concurrent projects and features, including scope, requirements, timelines, resource allocation, and reporting
Define the business and functional requirements for the features and the systems that will support these projects
Own the overall cross-functional schedules that may affect multiple engineering teams, including client, server, tools, reporting, and others
A technical background is extremely helpful
5+ years of technical program management in software development involving complex client/server architecture.
A track record of building products by driving collaboration across product, design, engineering, QA, ops, and other key stakeholders.
Strong technical proficiency in software architecture and development.
Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and logical structuring abilities with clear ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans.
Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to all levels of an organization. Strong facilitation skills (requirements sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings).
Proven experience in authoring technical specs.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive multiple tasks to completion with minimal oversight, showing strong self-motivation and accountability.
Experience with iOS app development on UI features with design team is a major plus.
Experience working on Trust and Safety or legal and regulatory initiatives.
Bonus points for past programming experience.
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field or at least 5+ years of comparable experience.
For over a decade, the App Store has proved to be a safe and trusted place to discover and download apps. But the App Store is more than just a storefront — it’s an innovative destination focused on bringing you amazing experiences. The team continues to innovate the platform - which is home to over 2 million apps in over 40 languages and 175 regions around the world— each created using our own software development kit and services! All those apps mean the store takes billions of requests from more than 500 million visitors every week across iOS, macOS, tvOS, iPadOS, watchOS and visionOS platforms.
To deliver such a rich experience at this scale, Program Managers partner with Engineering, Design and other cross-functional partners to build high-performance systems backed up by robust testing. In a world where apps have become essential in people’s daily lives, the App Store team has become essential to Apple’s business!
