The Pre-silicon Compute Frameworks team is responsible for API design and development across Metal and Metal compute frameworks for upcoming hardware features in future Apple Silicon GPUs.
As a member of this team, you will contribute to API design, development, and performance analysis across Metal and Metal compute frameworks for future Apple Silicon GPUs. Along with API development, you will develop critical compute and ML use cases to showcase new features.
You will partner with other leaders across Apple software and hardware organizations to propose, develop, and evaluate hardware features for new silicon generations from emulation through silicon.
Develop and deliver software representing Apple’s roadmap for compute and ML technologies during hardware development.
Design APIs that enable developers to make full use of new hardware features in the simplest way possible.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure our software and hardware roadmap includes the state-of-the-art features and performance.
Contribute to the bring-up and verification of new chips and products using our new GPUs.
BS/MS/PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or related field with 5 years experience.
Strong grasp and practical experience with at least one GPU compute APIs (Metal, CUDA, OpenCL, etc.)
Good understanding of machine learning fundamentals and familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, CoreML)
Knowledge of Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, and CPU/GPU programming
Strong background in C/C++ programming
Experience collaborating in large cross functional projects
Familiarity with Apple framework and API design patterns
Hands on experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, CoreML)
