Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. Job Overview
The Global Education Capabilities Senior Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing DePuy Synthes’ global professional education capabilities in support of commercial strategy and business growth. This leader will define the global education capability roadmap, modernize learning ecosystems, and ensure scalable, compliant, and impactful education solutions that enable customer excellence across regions and franchises. This role partners across the Education Eco-system to lead global capabilities such as Professional relations and operations, Commercial capabilities (e.g., Ed Tech), Systems strategy, metrics and reporting (incl. learning systems), Meeting, vendor and infrastructure management, Logistics warehousing, Brick and mortar institutes, Clinical simulation, Copy review.
Key Responsibilities
Define and redefine the global professional education capabilities strategy aligned with DePuy Synthes commercial priorities and growth objectives.
Build and oversee scalable global education platforms, learning technologies, and operating models to support surgeon, healthcare professional, and internal commercial education.
Partner with Global and Regional Commercial, Marketing, and Medical Education leaders to translate business needs into effective education solutions.
Establish global standards, governance, and best practices for professional education content development, delivery, and measurement.
Lead and develop a high‑performing global team, fostering talent growth, inclusion, and collaboration across geographies.
Drive innovation in education methodologies, including digital, hybrid, and experiential learning approaches.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and quality requirements for all professional education activities.
Define and monitor key performance indicators to assess education effectiveness, learner engagement, and business impact.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field).
Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience and Skills
Required:
Typically requires 12-14 years of progressive experience in professional education, commercial enablement, learning strategy, or related fields within healthcare, medical devices, or life sciences.
Proven experience leading global or enterprise‑level education capabilities and transformation initiatives.
Demonstrated people‑leadership experience, including leading leaders and global teams.
Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business strategy into scalable education solutions.
Experience partnering cross‑functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and regional stakeholders.
Excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills at senior leadership levels.
Preferred:
Experience in orthopedic, surgical, or interventional medical device education.
Expertise in digital learning platforms, learning experience design, and data‑driven education measurement.
Experience operating in highly regulated global environments.
Track record of driving innovation and change management in education or commercial capability building.
Global role experience with significant regional collaboration across North America, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
Other:
Language: English required; additional languages preferred.
Travel: Up to ~25% international and domestic travel.
Certifications: Learning, education technology, or leadership certifications preferred but not required.
