Job Overview
This role provides strategic leadership for healthcare compliance within a highly dynamic and regulated environment while enabling compliant and sustainable growth across DePuy Synthes’ Joints & Digital and Commercial Excellence businesses. The Director will also have responsibility for Government Contract Compliance (GCC).
This is a high-impact role offering broad visibility across Orthopedics, with the opportunity to influence decision-making, strengthen a culture of integrity, and support innovation that improves patient outcomes worldwide.
This role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and partners with the Joints & Digital and Commercial Excellence Global Presidents.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as a trusted advisor and provides strategic HCC leadership and oversight for Joints & Digital, Commercial Excellence and Government Contract Compliance across all DePuy Synthes businesses.
Serves as a thought partner to senior leaders, advising on complex business initiatives, commercialization strategies, medical affairs activities, and emerging business models in a manner that enables compliant execution.
Actively participates as a member of relevant business leadership teams, embedding compliance perspectives early into strategy development and execution discussions.
Assures the independence and visibility of compliance activities and reinforces the message that Health Care Compliance (HCC) and Government Contract Compliance (GCC) are company priorities.
Ensures the Compliance Program effectively corrects, prevents, and detects violations of laws, regulations, and policies; and implements corrective actions as needed.
Builds partnerships with senior management to maintain an appropriate culture of compliance and drive a sustainable compliance program.
Oversees follow-up and resolution of investigations generated by the program (including for-cause investigations and anonymous reports), as directed by legal counsel.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of high-performing compliance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, healthcare, law, or a related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA, MPH) or Juris Doctor (JD).
Experience and Skills
Required:
Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, regulatory, or risk management roles, preferably within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
Demonstrated leadership experience supporting complex, matrixed commercial organizations.
Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare laws and regulations (e.g., Anti‑Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Sunshine Act).
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive compliant business decisions in fast‑paced environments.
Experience leading teams and managing cross‑functional initiatives.
Deep knowledge of compliance frameworks, due diligence, monitoring, and operational risk management.
Excellent judgment, communication, and executive presence.
Preferred:
Experience supporting Joints & Digital, Commercial Excellence, Government Contract Compliance (GCC).
Prior experience in a global or large‑scale U.S. MedTech organization.
Background partnering with sales, marketing, and medical education teams.
Experience supporting business transformations, divestitures, or organizational change.
Familiarity with industry codes such as AdvaMed.
Other
Language: English (required).
Travel: Up to 20% domestic travel.
Certifications: Compliance, legal, or ethics certifications (e.g., CHC) preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
150,000.00 - 300,000.00 USD AnnualAdditional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
