We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Senior Tools and Automation Engineer to own the development, maintenance, and expansion of our test automation capabilities for iCloud's core products across iOS, macOS, and Web.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, possesses a deep understanding of software development principles, and is adept at creating robust, maintainable, and scalable automation solutions.
You will analyze existing codebases, contribute to their improvement, and develop new automation strategies to address evolving business needs. Most importantly, you are a creative problem-solver with a commitment to delivering high-quality results and mentoring other engineers.
Lead quality efforts across cross-functional teams.
Identify automation requirements and design solutions to address test execution challenges.
Analyze existing codebases and find opportunities for improvement.
Leverage AI to enhance existing tools and daily productivity.
6+ years of experience working as a Software Test Automation Engineer.
Good understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and QA processes.
Proven Software QA/black box testing experience.
Strong Python programming skills, with demonstrated experience building and maintaining production-quality automation code.
Extensive experience in designing and building automated test frameworks.
Proficient in creating automation test plans and test cases for UI applications (XCTest, WebDriver, or equivalent).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate, debug, and triage difficult problems both independently and cooperatively.
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Ability to lead quality for cross-functional efforts.
Familiarity with Swift.
Knowledge of WebDriver protocol, Selenium, or Appium.
Strong technical experience on multiple platforms (iOS, macOS, etc.).
Experience identifying automation requirements and designing solutions to address test execution challenges.
Proven experience in developing robust, maintainable, extensible, and scalable automation solutions.
Experience diagnosing and debugging complex systems.
Exceptional collaborative skills including networking, documentation, and presentation skills.
Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced and informal environment. Ability to respond and react to changing priorities quickly and efficiently.
Proven experience working on multi-functional projects, collaborating with various teams to achieve project objectives.
Creative thinker and strong problem solver.
Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to accelerate test authoring, debugging, and automation development.
Familiarity with integrating LLMs or agentic workflows into developer and QA tooling (e.g., automated failure triage, test-case generation, log/artifact analysis).
