We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer to join the ACM Platform and AML Services team. This role will design and build distributed backend services that power Apple’s fraud prevention platform across multiple lines of business, including Apple Store Online, Apple Media Products, Apple Cash Wallet, AppleCare, and other strategic initiatives.
The engineer will play a key role in delivering China PIPL efforts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving complex distributed systems problems, embraces AI-driven development, and is passionate about building scalable cloud-native platforms.
Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and distributed system principles.
Build and maintain high-throughput APIs, batch processing pipelines, and Mass Action services for fraud operations and NPI events.
Develop new platform capabilities for ACM Next Gen, Sky Vault, and AML Services.
Lead the engineering work required for China PIPL compliance, including:
Building ACM infrastructure on Alibaba Cloud.
Supporting Kubernetes, OpenSearch, Solr, Kafka, and other platform components.
Migrating AWS-based services to Alibaba Cloud services including OSS, ACK, and ApsaraMQ.
Replacing AWS SDKs with Alibaba Cloud SDKs.
Implementing China-specific data routing and ingestion logic.
Updating deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, and load testing for the Alibaba Cloud environment.
Design reliable, scalable, and observable distributed systems with strong operational excellence.
Partner with Product, Architecture, and partner engineering teams to define technical solutions and platform direction.
Use AI tools and modern engineering practices to improve development productivity, code quality, automation, and platform innovation.
Participate in production support, debugging, performance tuning, and operational improvements.
4+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale backend systems.
Strong Java development experience with modern JDK versions.
Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, and fault-tolerant architectures.
Hands-on experience with OpenSearch
Experience building cloud-native applications on Kubernetes.
Experience working with public cloud platforms and SaaS architectures.
Strong understanding of CI/CD, deployment automation, and production operations.
Experience designing high-throughput, low-latency APIs and distributed services.
Familiarity with AI concepts, LLM-based development tools, and AI-assisted software engineering.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and bias for execution.
Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, or Solr
Experience with Cassandra or any other Nosql DB
AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) is IS&T's engine for AI-powered innovation. The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning — including generative AI — along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple.
As part of the ACM Platform team, you will design, develop, and operate high-throughput, low-latency distributed services that support more than 1,500 internal users across Apple. You will work closely with engineering, product, fraud analysts, and business partners to build scalable platform capabilities that improve fraud detection and case management.
