Front End Web Engineer, Apps and Games Engineering

As a Front End Web Engineer, your responsibilities will include all phases of user interface development. From architecture and design to implementation and user engagement. You will work with our internal customers and backend developers both on the team and others.

You will be working together with Server and other client engineers owning all the components of our stack, operations, and product teams to implement infrastructure and add product features vital for our efforts. We don't expect prior experience with all the technologies involved, but you will be encouraged to learn to use them optimally. Knowledge of backend languages like Python and Java are a bonus, but not required.

Own the full front-end lifecycle — architect, design, implement, test, and iterate on user interfaces for impactful internal web applications and services.
Build high-quality, performant experiences where quality and performance are treated as non-negotiable, not afterthoughts.
Collaborate across the stack — partner closely with server engineers, other client engineers, operations, and product teams to design and deliver end-to-end features.
Translate customer needs into interfaces by working directly with internal customers to understand requirements and shape intuitive, engaging solutions.
Contribute to shared infrastructure and tooling that supports the team's applications and improves developer velocity.
Champion modern web technologies — evaluate, adopt, and apply groundbreaking front-end tools and patterns to raise the bar on user experience.
Write and maintain automated tests to safeguard quality and prevent regressions across the UI.
Continuously learn and grow — ramp up on unfamiliar technologies across the stack (including backend languages where helpful) to contribute wherever the team needs you.

3+ years professional experience building and debugging consumer-facing single-page applications in JavaScript ES6+, HTML/CSS
Experience with developing rich, interactive and well-performing user interfaces
React/Redux/WebPack or equivalent frameworks for front end development
Jest / Enzyme or equivalent unit-testing experience
Familiarity with additional UI testing platforms (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO, TestCafe)
Working experience with NodeJS and Typescript
BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field

3+ years with React
React/Redux/WebPack for front end development
Jest / Enzyme unit-testing experience
Experience with Playwright testing
Experience with GraphQL
Experience with Python/Java
Understanding of large distributed systems

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
