The team manages Apple's Real Estate and Non-Real Estate leases across multiple lines of business, and is dedicated to driving global standardization, optimizing processes and systems, and establishing a robust governance framework that ensures rigorous compliance and meaningful reporting across US GAAP, IFRS 16, and local GAAP books and records. The Global Lease Accountant will be responsible for accounting for all worldwide leases and US GAAP lease disclosures, and will support IFRS 16 and local GAAP lease accounting as required.
Manage Lease Accounting: Prepare, consolidate, and analyse global lease disclosures for 90+ divisions in compliance with ASC 842, interpreting unusual trends and applying critical thinking to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of lease activity, occasionally supporting IFRS16 at critical times.
Ensure Financial Accuracy: Perform balance sheet reconciliations, post journal entries, and execute SOX controls across 90+ legal entities, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time.
Coordinate Month-End Close: Partner with domestic and international accounting and finance teams to coordinate and complete the fiscal month-end close process.
Build Cross-Functional Relationships: Cultivate strong partnerships across Apple with key Real Estate and Non-Real Estate business teams, Technical and Corporate Accounting, and SOX PMO teams.
Support Audit Activities: Assist in preparing and compiling audit PBCs and IPE provided to Apple's external auditors in support of the annual audit of Apple's financial statements.
Drive Process Improvement: Identify, plan, and implement process improvements to enhance the quality, efficiency, and compliance of key deliverables.
Current experience in the Global Business Solutions (GBS) organization
3-5 years professional experience in accounting, finance, or similar field
Excellent SAP knowledge or equivalent ERP experience.
Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
Working knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 840, IFRS 16, and Local GAAP.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proficiency in data visualisation and reporting tools such as Tableau or Dataiku (desirable).
Effective team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Mature, driven, and able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across the organisation and with external partners.
Meticulous attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Genuine passion for process improvement, championing innovation, eliminating non-value-added work, and driving efficiency.
Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
Ability to influence and implement ideas effectively within Apple's culture.
Strong ability to identify accounting irregularities and discrepancies.
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and/or CPA certification.
