As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. Trust and Safety (T&S) is dedicated to promoting trust in Google and ensuring user safety, and we work to proactively identify and mitigate potential harms across all Google products and services. Our team takes a strategic and scalable approach to helping Google stay ahead of attackers, and strives to deliver trusted and safe experiences to all users.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, test, and deploy new features and components that leverage AI to automate and enhance trust and safety operations, enabling teams to scale their user protection impact efficiently.
  
• Troubleshoot and debug issues, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
  
• Work across the stack from building AI models, to performing experiments, improving quality, building infrastructure and tools, etc.
  
• Collaborate cross-functionally to solve ambiguous, testing, and impactful problems at the intersection of technology, automation, user protection, and AI.
  
• Participate in code reviews, receive and give constructive feedback to peers.
  

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 5 years of experience with designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
  
• 3 years of experience architecting distributed systems, infrastructure or agentic systems.
• Experience building and deploying agentic AI systems.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  
• 3 years of experience with abuse detection.
  
• 3 years of experience with AI algorithms.
  
• Experience with Generative AI.
  
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply on complex issues.
