In this role you’ll be responsible for the team’s overall automation strategy — from idea to fully built solution. This will involve working with teams all across Apple. You will expand the team’s automation frameworks, build new tools, set up monitoring systems, and be responsible for ensuring the team is fully ready to test the latest generation of Apple products while maintaining the high quality of our existing diagnostic and repair systems.
Partner with cross-functional/global teams to define automation requirements and roadmap.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team.
Design, implement and maintain automation frameworks and tools to support Diagnostics and Repair QA test teams.
Expand the existing monitoring systems.
Manage and scale the QA Automation Lab fleet of devices.
BA/BS degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
5+ years of Swift and Python programming experience.
Experience building and growing XCUITests and supporting frameworks.
Possess a proven understanding of software testing and QA methodologies.
Ability to extract user scenarios from software feature descriptions and requirements to translate them into effective test plans and cases.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and thrives in a dynamic, collaborative team environment.
Strong knowledge of Unix-based systems.
Understanding of CI/CD systems, like Jenkins.
Understanding Apple Service Toolkit 2 and Field Diagnostics ecosystems.
Exposure to MDM solutions like Puppet or Ansible.
Previous professional experience with robotics.
The AppleCare Field Service Diagnostics Engineering team is seeking candidates with strong experience building automation frameworks and tools to validate diagnostic and repair tools used to service Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro. This position requires a passionate and self-motivated individual with excellent cross-functional communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to adjust to rapid change. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, eager to deep-dive into technical areas, and inclined to explore and integrate AI initiatives into existing processes.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
