ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.

Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.

THE ROLE:

The AMD Datacenter Firmware team is currently looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about server products and eager to contribute to the EPYC product line, helping AMD transform the x86 server market. As part of our team, you will work on cutting-edge technologies, including advanced chiplet designs, the latest silicon process technologies, and optimized IO architectures. You will develop and deploy firmware solutions that address complex challenges in the data-driven world.

We are looking for an engineer who can ensure customers can leverage our EPYC designs and collaborate with SoC architects to deliver scalable, robust, high-quality, competitive, and innovative server platform BIOS solutions while minimizing time-to-market.

THE PERSON:

A successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in developing firmware solutions, strong problem-solving ability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. You will need a collaborative mindset to work closely with silicon design, platform design, and validation teams, along with the organizational skills to manage issues proactively and communicate risks effectively.

This role involves contributing independently to technical development efforts and representing the firmware team in internal and external collaborations. You should have proven software methodologies, firmware design proficiency, and the confidence to work across multiple teams while maintaining focus on quality and on-time delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate on end-to-end firmware flows and component integration, communicating a clear understanding of technical design and implementation
  • Design and develop platform BIOS based on silicon and board features
  • Participate in triage, debug, and validation processes across the product lifecycle, partnering with silicon design, platform design, and debug teams to address system issues
  • Write high-quality, scalable code in C and/or ASM to deliver BIOS solutions for server platforms aligned with customer needs and internal objectives

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years experience in BIOS, firmware, or system software development with solid knowledge of x86 system architecture
  • Excellent C programming skills, with x86 assembly experience a plus
  • Knowledge of server hardware interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, SATA, AHCI, DDR5, PCIe, SPI, I2C, NVMe)
  • Familiarity with server BIOS architecture and industry standards (e.g., ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIe)
  • Experience with AMI AptioV BIOS highly desirable

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Location:

Austin, TX (preferred)

Santa Clara, CA

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
