Job description

The Senior Finance Manager, Oncology Finance supports the financial performance of a co-commercialized oncology asset, with primary responsibility for selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expense planning and alliance financial consolidation.

This role operates at the intersection of brand finance, alliance management, and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted financial partner to commercial and alliance leaders, translating complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

Alliance Finance and Consolidation

  • Lead AbbVie financial consolidation for the oncology collaboration, including forecasts, management reporting, and the total molecule profit-share statement prepared with the alliance partner.
  • Lead the Financial Working Group and coordinate required reporting, governance meetings, and financial deliverables across AbbVie and alliance stakeholders.
  • Partner with R&D Alliance Finance to reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual profit-share and cost-share calculations and coordinate invoice review and approval.
  • Manage U.S. therapeutics P&L consolidation, including net sales, SG&A operating expenses, cost allocations, and reconciliations in accordance with collaboration terms.
  • Support alliance-related audit, compliance, and internal control requirements.

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Own end-to-end SG&A planning for the U.S. oncology business, including Annual Plan, Latest Best Estimate, and Long-Range Plan processes.
  • Partner with integrated finance teams on volume, price, and P&L consolidation across planning and reporting cycles.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly actuals reporting, variance analysis, forecasts, and clear management commentary for senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve forecasting, reporting accuracy, financial systems, efficiency, and agility.

Business Partnership and Leadership

  • Advise commercial leaders and cross-functional partners on SG&A investment decisions, priorities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support budget management across marketing, sales, market access, and other commercial workstreams while protecting critical investments.
  • Collaborate with Brand Finance, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, Commercial Center of Finance, and R&D Finance on brand-level financial matters.
  • Lead, coach, and develop one direct report.

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, company financial policies, and alliance agreement requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or accounting required.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 2 years of people-management experience, including coaching and developing finance talent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment without direct authority.
  • Strong financial planning, modeling, budgeting, forecasting, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple processes, balance competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and experience with enterprise planning systems such as BPC.
  • Experience with SAP and Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, or comparable advanced credential.
  • Experience with alliance accounting, profit-sharing arrangements, or complex collaboration structures.
  • Experience in a large, matrixed biopharmaceutical organization.
