Instructional Products is seeking an Instructional Designer to develop customer-facing materials for products that range from professional creative apps to consumer productivity tools and emerging platforms. At the core of the work, our Instructional Designers figure out what users need to know, decide the best way to present that information, then execute their plan with precision. That means working at the intersection of writing craft and content design, moving between big-picture decisions about structure and organization and the close work of getting sentences exactly right.
The role spans a wide range of products, formats, and release cycles, which requires frequent context-switching and shifting priorities. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to understand what you're writing about, and with editors, graphic designers, legal reviewers, and other writers to make sure what ships is excellent.
AI is part of how this team works — not as a shortcut, but as a tool that's actively changing what's possible in content work. We're looking for people who will keep pushing on what’s possible.
Design and write instructional content for Apple software, hardware, and services.
Analyze user goals to determine what to include, how to sequence it, and what to leave out.
Use data to identify gaps, prioritize work, and measure impact.
Work closely with cross-functional partners to deeply understand the products you're documenting.
Manage content across multiple products and release schedules, adapting when priorities or product details change.
Incorporate AI tools throughout your workflow — from research and drafting to review and delivery.
Evaluate and propose alternative approaches to displaying content when the standard format isn't the right solution.
A love for words and language, with strong opinions about style, grammar, tone, and voice.
Background in technical writing, instructional design, education, or a related field.
Ability to break down complex features or procedures into clear, sequenced steps.
Experience using data to make informed content decisions.
Able to manage work across multiple concurrent projects with overlapping timelines.
Curiosity about AI tools and how they're changing content work.
Hands-on experience with productivity or creative software for tasks like document editing, presentations, video and audio production, or graphic design.
Comfortable working across disciplines to create shared deliverables.
Experience in information design, UX, or prototyping — thinking about layout, interaction, or format as part of the solution, not just the content.
