Job description
About Redwood Materials
Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.
Position Summary:
Redwood Materials is seeking a Spares Planner to manage maintenance inventory, spare parts procurement, and material readiness in support of Redwood production, maintenance, and engineering. This role will involve the daily management of suppliers and inbound supply. This individual must understand manufacturing processes and supply chain strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage inventory levels for maintenance spare parts, consumables, and critical equipment.
- Create, track, and expedite purchase orders to support maintenance and operational needs.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve supply chain issues.
- Maintain and optimize critical spare parts inventories based on equipment risk, usage, and lead times.
- Process and track RMAs, warranty claims, and supplier returns.
- Support maintenance planning activities by ensuring materials are available before scheduled work.
- Maintain inventory records, BOMs, and material data within CMMS and inventory systems.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Generate and publish inventory, procurement, and storeroom performance metrics.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management, storeroom operations, and material readiness.
Required
- 2+ years of experience in maintenance inventory management, MRO procurement, warehouse operations, or related industrial environments.
- Experience working with CMMS, ERP, or inventory management systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial spare parts, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, operations, engineering, and suppliers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.
Preferred
- Experience supporting manufacturing, processing, chemical, mining, energy, or industrial operations.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience developing inventory strategies and critical spare programs.
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance concepts and asset management practices.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
