The position requires deliverables to be provided under tight deadlines and with input from many senior-level stakeholders. Strong collaboration skills are a must, as well as coolness under pressure, problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to mediate and cope with rapid change. Above all, the role requires a dedicated individual who understands Apple’s high standards and design aesthetic to the core.
Design, build, and maintain design system components, patterns, and tokens that empower product designers and engineers to focus on product-level problems and ship high quality work efficiently and consistently.
Partner closely with design and engineering teams to continuously evolve our design system and tooling, fostering the creation of exceptional product experiences.
Use strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration, gather feedback, and promote system usage across various disciplines.
Craft beautiful, expressive, and intuitive systems and guidelines, encompassing visual design, motion, and interaction design, all grounded in clear principles and patterns.
Evolve the design token architecture to support seamless theming across multiple platforms.
Demonstrate fluency in the web design system landscape, coupled with a strong understanding of native platforms like iOS and macOS.
Create and refine comprehensive guidelines and documentation that connect with and resonate with the teams utilizing our design systems.
Stay ahead of emerging technologies, particularly AI, and articulate a clear point of view on how they intersect with design systems, product design, and engineering.
Experience working with all aspects of a design system, including system architecture, component and token design, and tooling and infrastructure.
A portfolio of work that showcases excellence in design systems, interaction design, and visual design.
A commitment to upholding the principles of transparency, privacy, and trust while supporting business goals.
Outstanding ability to communicate your ideas to designers, system consumers, engineers, and product managers, through writing, visuals, and presentations.
7+ years of design experience with a focus on design systems for web. Experience with iOS and macOS UI frameworks is a plus.
Ability to clearly communicate concepts and designs through sketches, wireframes,
high-fidelity comps, and prototypes, using Sketch, Figma, Photoshop, Keynote, and similar tools.
A passion for Apple, our products, and our customers is a must.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Design, or equivalent work experience.
Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Expertise documenting design details and QA of the implemented product.
Experience in handling several complex projects simultaneously.
Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project.
