Job description
Our inventory systems are the authoritative source of information for billions of inventory units that Amazon holds in its logistical networks, worldwide. As new inventory arrives to our networks, inventory systems enable Amazon's supply chain to route products to optimal locations based on space availability, customer demand and buying patterns. Inventory systems track the state of all items and their location, and share the availability to upstream systems, to make the items sellable on the Amazon website. When customer orders come in, inventory systems reserve specific items and track them through various stages of order fulfillment, until shipments are delivered to customers. Throughout this end-to-end inventory movement, inventory systems detect discrepancies between virtual and physical states of inventory, and enable corrections of virtual inventory state via both preventative and mitigating mechanisms.
The AFT Inventory org is seeking a highly skilled SDE II to lead our Genealogy platform development. This critical role will shape the future of our inventory Genealogy and defect detection systems, focusing on root cause analysis and process-level insights. As the lead architect, you'll finalize our high-volume data storage infrastructure and develop advanced analytics solutions, handling approximately 1 billion daily inventory events. Your responsibilities will include building and optimizing a sophisticated knowledge graph to track inventory throughout Amazon's fulfillment network, designing scalable storage solutions, and developing high-performance APIs. You'll also spearhead the creation of analytics tools for defect identification, ensuring data security and compliance throughout. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of big data technology, directly impacting Amazon's inventory management efficiency and accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in big data technologies, cloud computing, and database management, along with strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive innovation in this complex and dynamic field.
